Registration For Spring Semester Now Open At Northern

ESPANOLA Registration for the spring 2020 semester at Northern New Mexico College is now open for new and continuing students.
While classes begin Jan. 21, students are encouraged to register as soon as possible in order to get the classes they need, receive financial aid, and order books and course materials.
Prospective students interested in starting classes for the spring are also encouraged to register, but must first apply to Northern by completing an online application.


League High School Essay Contest Honors 100th Anniversary Of Women’s Suffrage

The 19th amendment was passed in 1920 granting women’s suffrage and that makes 2020 a historic year in women’s right to vote in United States elections.
To celebrate the event and to remind citizens of those momentous times, the League of Women Voters is sponsoring an essay contest open to all Los Alamos students in grades 9 through 12 attending public, private or home schools.
The topic of the essay is “U.S. women fought for decades for the right to vote, finally achieving the vote in 1920. What were some of the obstacles to achieving suffrage? Since 1920, there have


LAFRW Hosts Annual Christmas Luncheon Thursday


Los Alamos Federated Republican Women will host its annual Christmas Luncheon noon Thursday. Call Shona for luncheon location at 505.672.1456.

Local President Shona Neff will present the Year in Review. All registered Republican women are invited to attend.

Contributions for a charity opportunity will take place during the luncheon.  




SFCC, SFHEC Winter Break Closures Dec. 21-Jan. 5

SFCC News:
SANTA FE ― Santa Fe Community College and the Santa Fe Higher Education Center will close for Winter Break from Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019 through Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020.
No classes or activities will be held and no other student services will be available during this time. Snow removal and grounds maintenance will not be operational during this time. The college’s early childhood development center Kids Campus and the William C. Witter Fitness Education Center also will be closed.
