U.S. House Assistant Speaker Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) issued the following statement on the 100th anniversary of the House passage of the 19th Amendment:

“A century ago, the United States took a critical step forward in women’s equality with the House passage of the 19th Amendment, guaranteeing women the right to vote. Suffragettes waged a hard-fought campaign to secure their rightful and equal voice in our democracy and we owe deep gratitude to these women for their bravery and courage.

LAMS Students Participate In National MathCounts

The New Mexico team including members from Los Alamos Middle School competed May 11-13 at the National MathCounts in Orlando, Fla. Team members from left, Grant Stanton and Harmony Guan from Desert Ridge Middle School in Albuquerque, Coach Phuong Nguyen, Assistant Coach Do Vo and LAMS team members Alex Livescu and Charles Cai. The 224 final Mathletes from 50 U.S. states, U.S. territories, State Department schools and Department of Defense schools and their coaches were treated to a National Competition experience like no other. The MATHCOUNTS Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization
