PEEC News:

Head to the Los Alamos Nature Center tomorrow evening for a night of family fun! The Pajarito Environmental Education Center’s monthly Family Star Party and Family Night programs will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 10. The star party starts at 5:30 p.m. and Family Night begins at 6 p.m. Both programs are free to attend thanks to PEEC’s sponsors New Mexico Bank & Trust and Kiwanis Club of Los Alamos.

At the Family Star Party, sponsored by New Mexico Bank & Trust, PEEC Educator Elizabeth Watts will explore space with the audience. This month, she will focus on the fall equinox and Neptune. Children can look at the stars and ask questions throughout the event. Mesa Public Library’s Melissa Mackey will then lead Family Night, sponsored by Kiwanis Club.

This event will take place outside around a campfire. Attendees can roast marshmallows and enjoy songs, games or activities. Parents or guardians are required to stay with their children at both events.

Both Family Star Parties and Family Nights take place on the second Tuesday of every month. These events are free to the public and no advance registration is required. The Los Alamos Nature Center is open until 8 p.m. Tuesdays so families can play and enjoy the center before or after these programs.
